The Investigation
Prov:22:1: A good name is rather to be chosen
than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
Prov:19:5: A false witness shall not be unpunished,
and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
The Atlanta police first suggested that the slayings were drug-related.
But they backed off a day later. The three men, it turned out, had
planned to use the trucking company's season tickets to see the Falcons
play at the Georgia Dome.
Phillip's family and friends all were concerned the way the Investigation
started, they knew that Phillip wasn't into anything dirty. One of
his friends stated that the flashiest thing about Phillip was his red convertible
and it was a 9 year old Chevy Cavalier. His family, his boss and
his former roommate all said the same thing: His execution style
slaying at the Atlanta Hilton had to be a matter of being in the wrong
place at the wrong time.
Phillip was as average as you could be, his former roommate stated.
He was a big sports fan, he like to shoot pool, he hung out at places like
Damon's and Chili's and Appleby's. He hung out with the same people,
did the same things. Once I told him, "You're as predictable as my
grandfather."
Phillip's boss commented that Phillip was a kind, gentle person.
He was a real good employee. That his 20 person staff is eligible
for weekly bonuses based upon work performance and Phillip qualified for
the bonuses 98 percent of the time.
Phillip's father, Clarence Dover stated. This is an awful thing that's
happened to Phillip, he was not a violent person. He had never even gotten
into a fight. He was a good man, a good son, a good child.
Phillip has twin daughters that he loved and adored and was so very
proud of them. As the Police discovered none of the men were involved
in anything illegal or immoral. They were there for a ball game.
It is terrible that people have to be put through what the press and
the police department put you through during such a tragic time,
At first they tried to say that it was drug related, then prostitution
was insinuated. Do you know what this does to a family when they
know that it is not true. I have to admit the family of the victims
were apologized to for the way the investigation started. But do
you know how many people that probably still think, Oh, it was drug related,
they deserved what they got. It is so wrong to put out false stories.
